Cognitive Impairment in Bipolar Disorder: Comparison with Cognitive Impairment in Schizophrenia
نویسنده
چکیده
The present commentary aims to investigate findings of cognitive impairment in bipolar disorder in comparison with those in schizophrenia. Bipolar disorder may share a subtle neurodevelopmental deviation with schizophrenia. However, premorbid enhanced cognitive function can be a risk factor only for bipolar disorder. Performance patterns of social and nonsocial cognition may be oppositional between the two disorders. Comparison of cognitive impairment between bipolar disorder and schizophrenia needs to consider the possibility of cognitive heterogeneity within each disorder. *Corresponding author: Makoto Nakaya, Department of Psychiatry, Musashino Red-Cross Hospital, 1-26-1, Kyounanchou, Musashino, Tokyo 180-8610, Japan, Tel: +81 42232 3111; E-mail: [email protected] Received February 24, 2016; Accepted March 10, 2016; Published March 17, 2016 Citation: Nakaya M (2016) Cognitive Impairment in Bipolar Disorder: Comparison with Cognitive Impairment in Schizophrenia.
